Excipients

Our excipients are divided into tablets, capsules, and solutions. There are four commonly used excipients for tablets, namely diluent, Adhesive, disintegrant and lubricant.
    1. Diluents, also known as fillers, are mainly used to increase the weight or volume of tablets for mass production and processing. The most commonly used is starch, which is also the most common auxiliary material in medicine. It is also versatile and can be used as Adhesive and disintegrant.
    2. The Adhesive can give viscosity to the materials without viscosity or with insufficient viscosity, so that the materials can be aggregated into granules, otherwise the tablets will be scattered once touched. Common Adhesive includes starch slurry, cellulose derivatives, etc.
    3. Disintegrators are excipients that promote the rapid fragmentation of tablets into small particles in gastrointestinal fluids, which are crucial for the absorption of tablets. The most typical disintegrant is starch.
    4. The use of lubricants is mainly to ensure uniform stress distribution during compression and prevent cracking. Common lubricants include Magnesium stearate, micro silica gel and talcum powder.
    5. The most common excipient in capsules is gelatin in the capsule shell, and currently animal derived gelatin is mainly used. The most common excipients in solution agents are solvents, commonly used include water, ethanol, etc.
